Adult Toys
03.09.05 (10:17 pm)   [edit]
A friend made a comment the other day that "Rap is to music like an etch-a-sketch is to art." I said that I never had an Etch-a-Sketch as a kid. And I also really wanted an Easy Bake Oven and SeaMonkeys. He said he wanted a rock polisher and a Hot Wheels race track that kept the cars going...

This led to a discussion of those toys you REALLY wanted as a kid but never got.
So this is your chance...
What toys did you REALLY REALLY REALLY want?
Would you like them today?
What toys did you really want and got and was kinda disappointed?

I'm thinking I might take a tour of my local toy section and peruse them. After further research, I might come up with some additional items. (I actually did look online a few months ago at some of the neat SeaMonkey aquariums and almost ordered one)

And no comments from the Peanut Gallery about Adult Toys - that's a whole'nother posting.

I had one of the 'original' ones - it was hand-signed and I have a picture of myself with Xavier Roberts (the dude who made them). It's carefully packaged at my mom's.

Supposedly a doll-collector offered my mom $15k for it. Not bad for a $75 investment eh?

My dad built me a dollhouse that had carpet, working lights, wallpaper, etc. My mom made curtains and bedspreads. It had a bunk bed in one bedroom and a canopy bed in the other one. Nicest thing he ever did for me...

Granted, he mis-measured and the barbies couldn't stand up straight in the rooms. (LOL)

EASY BAKE OVEN! Oh, how I coveted it. Never got it. Guess what my kids are going to get for Chanukah this year, so Mommy can play with it?

I had Donny & Marie barbie dolls. (Oh how I luved Donny!)

I cut off Marie's hair into a very butch buzz cut and put straight pins in her ears as earrings.

I didn't hate her or anything, I was just trying to give her a new look.

Lionel train set, the full set, complete with the town and crossings! Big enough to mount on a 4' X 8' piece of plywood in the basement! I went ga-ga over the train set in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, I could have stood there for hours watching that thing!!!
