sorry to set you straight , mate, but it is "bated" breath. It is only "baited" breath if you are trying to catch something. It is "bated" breath when one is waiting in anticipation. Unless of course one waits in anticipation to catch a mouse ( or something) then one's breath would be baited, with say cheese. One would be waiting then with their baited, bated breath.
