I'm officially drain-free! (Granted, they might put some new ones in on Monday...) Had another date with the Big Mean Needle. Took out 600cc's on each side. The nurse was tapping my hip area saying "I don't feel any fluid" - I told her that she would be surprised - and sure enough... Big storms - of course I got caught in them. Caught in the hospital parking deck elevator for about 3 mins when the power went out. That creepy emergency power lights kicked on. Then the generator kicked in and got me to the parking deck. I have been stuck in an elevator due to power outages 4-5 times in my life - I guess I'm an old pro... |

That has never happened to me. I think I am really lucky. It is good that the elevator had a generator. Eep. Can you imagine being stuck for hours and hours? What if you had to pee? What if there were lots of other people? What if it was one of those really crowded elevators with a ton of people and one smells like B.O.? It is enough to make me want to take the stairs...just in case.

good luck with the drain free life! and the elevator thing is really freaky, I hate being stuck...it really made me panic the once or twice it happened to me...

I already feel left hip swelling up. I loathe having to go back on Friday to see one of the residents to get drained again. Maybe I should have just taken home the supplies to do it myself? I'm not squeamish...

That's no biggie. Sort of a reverse shot. The area is numb when it starts filling with fluid anyway... My cats could always assist! LOL

I remember the numbness very well! In fact I never had to have any sort of anesthetic when I had incisions and drainage performed post op cancer surgery. Now five years later I have a bit of feeling coming back. Oh well, beats the alternative. Oh, and don't hire your cats to do the job.... ;)
