I needed some AID
11.20.04 (3:55 pm)   [edit]
I just got the DVD of "Live Aid" from a dear friend. Being as I'm a mega 80's music fan, I am going to LOVE watching it again.

I remember the weekend it was on. Oh, the stories I can tell about that weekend! (I'm going to have to do some serious PG-13 editing for this one) I was in Florida at our condo. I was involved in a love triange of sorts with my old (ex) bf whose parents' condo was in the same complex (he lived in Chicago) and my new bf - the hot Cuban guy from Miami that was a rising Senior in high school. (I was a mere freshman!) Oh boy are the memories flooding back... Will write about it later tomorrow. I'll need a cold shower first. (giggle)

Woot! Woot! Woot!
Is it terribly obvious how badly I need to get out and socialize? LOL

I was at my grandparents' house, and my "cool" aunt and I sat and watched the whole thing! 80's rule!

that concert was the catalyst for U2's inevitable world domination. bono for president! bono for u.n. secretary general! heck, bono for benevolent world dictator! *delusion sets in*

Is this like that 80's movie 'Summer Lovers' that had the three-way affair set in Greece?

(I'm so excited,... and I just can't hide it,.... I'm about to loose control and I think I like it)???

Obvious, yes. You know what gave it away? The implication that you actually had sex on this occasion!!

Keep getting better, Scuba. Hope you're well.

Au contraire Bro. My 'virtue' remained intact for several more years post-Live Aid.

I didn't see it all that day - but seeing all these artists 20 years later - whoa!

Yes. Bono is a dick. I've met him twice. The Edge though, is VERY cool. I'm sure he has fantasies of gagging Bono from time to time. After Joshua Tree, I refused to buy any more of their albums.

It's a comedy. I swear some of this stuff should be made into a movie one day...

I WISH WISH WISH I had gotten to see Queen play live. And The Police. And The Who. (Roger Daltry was HOT - how did I miss that???)

And sadly, I'll still admit, I think George Michael looks uber-hot in his jeans on stage. LOL

oops! i gave you the wrong impression. bono can certainly come off as pretensious but i am a big fan and even greater admirer of both his art and his idealism. i was being tongue-in-cheek, of course, with the "bono for benevolent dictator" comment but i was only half joking ;-)

Bono does more than come off as pretentious - he's an ass. Egomanical. He's right up there with Michael Stipe. I can share 'inside' stories of encounters with them but let's sum it up to say, they both need a couple of swift kicks in the pants.

i have no interest to argue with your opinion of bono. i accept your personal opinion as valid based on your experience of him. there are ppl who think i'm an ass and then there (hopefully more) ppl who have experienced my love, kindness, and compassion. my personal admiration of bono is not based on personal experience, as i have none, but on his work, his music, and his activism for projects that resonate with my values.

now, stipe... i'm with you there ;-)

Bono is a media whore and his 'activism' is hooey. He's a total hypocrite.

OK... there are elements of hypocracy in all of us. As I said, I accept your opinion as valid based on your experience. I simply suggest that it is difficult for any of us to judge another person's heart, even when we know them intimately. Whatever Bono and Mr. Stipe are... its worked out for them. I can admire them for what they've created on its own merit detached from what they may or may not be in their private reality.
