Take a picture for me
11.17.04 (5:19 am)   [edit]
I haven't bitched about my mother in a long time. Had an amusing exchange with her last night that I thought I would share...

She asks me if my digital camera was working out.
I said it was working fine. Did she want one?
No, she said something about wondering if it was working out for me.
What followed was a dizzying 5 minute babbling by her where I finally interrupted her, and tried to recap what the hell the point of her comments were. I was confused. I tried to make the point that I have problems following things nowadays, so I needed her to be a little more concise.
Turns out she just wanted me to take some pictures of an antique clock and email them to someone at the Smithsonian.

Of course she couldn't just ask "Would you take some pictures for me?"

She sounds a lot like my m-in-law, I'm very sorry to say.

LOL - My Mom is so round about too. Only she speaks in some interesting sentence fragments at times. I think she has some of the conversation in her head with herself thinking that she's speaking out loud and I get the tail end of whatever her thought was...nutty stuff! ;-) Gotta love the Moms. LOL

My mother can take a 'knock knock joke' and turn it into an 11 minute confusing rambling where she forgets the punchline and screws up the entire thing.

It annoyed me to begin with. Add on top of it my confusion, and damn!
