Quick Update
11.11.04 (5:46 am)   [edit]
Little too much drama for me yesterday...
I have been feeling flushed/hot for a day or two. Took my temperature around 10am - it was 101 by noon it was 103.2 and my fluid output was triple what it had been.

Went down to the dr's office. My fever was 104.7 - they took cultures of my drainage fluid, some blood work, wanted to admit me to the hospital to which I said "NOOOOOOOOOOO!". So they packed me in Caprisun drinks (they were cold) and started an antibiotic IV drip.

He said my incisions look fine, he asked if I might have the flu or a UTI - no, I feel fine except around the incisions. They finally let me go home about 8pm. (Wasn't the brightest idea since I thought I was going to pass out but I made it home ok)

Fever got worse last night but this morning, it's only 101.5. I feel better...
Those of you with Hijacking privileges, feel free...

um Scuba ... what the hell? Please tell me you have no insurance and that's why you didn't want to be admitted? What's up with your aversion to the hospital?
You've got an infection somewhere right? Isn't that what fevers indicate?
What part of town are you in? DO you have someone looking in on you?
Too many questions right?

I think possibly you are the only person in the world with more bad medical luck than me.

Here's hoping your recovery will go better :-)

LOL - if I stand up for a few mins, I feel like I'm going to pass out - so that isn't an option. We might meet for a drink tomorrow, depending on how I feel.

Yes I have insurance but after they did the IV antibiotic, there wasn't much that they could do - being overnight in a hospital means no sleep.

And i've spent 2 nights at Crawford Long - the horror stories are unbelievable.

Plus - you're more likely to pick up other infections - and since I have autoimmune problems.... *I almost died from an infection I picked up in a hospital when I was 20.

I'm doing better - fever's down to 101.5 all day yesterday. Still really woozy and lots of fluid output.

Lulu and Sassy are being very attentive. Just wish they would vacuum and do laundry. LOL

I'll be fine but thanks for offering. ;)

I'm being good - staying off my feet, taking my meds, staying hydrated and going bonkers.

sounds like you are doing all the right things. and you are absolutely correct when you say the hospital is a hotbed of infection. It's sure no place to be when you're sick!! Resistant organisms are rampant and when you have a compromised immune system, you need extra special care taken. something that is in short supply everywhere in hospitals these days.

So glad you're not gonna go do it. Wait til at least Sunday or Monday, babe...get better.

Plus you don't need to be consuming alcohol right now...nothing that's gonna thin your blood and make you squirt more fluid, lady!!

I wasn't going to drink - I rarely drink on dates anyway - being that I'm such a lightweight when it comes to alcohol tolerance. :)
