Odd thing happened this morning. I got an IM from an old bf. Heck, I wouldn't even consider him a bf. We dated maybe a month. I felt he was just looking to get laid and I let things fizzle. He said that he wanted to take me to dinner tonight and talk. I asked why. He said that he realized he had something really great with me and didn't even realize it. Then he said sometimes people miss their 'soulmates' because of timing. He wasn't in the place at the time to be open to it. (I wanted to hurl at the 'soulmates' comment.) I told him that the entire time we dated, I got the impression he was just looking for sex and not into me at all. He said that he had changed a lot. I asked how. He said that he just found himself comparing girls he dated to me. That they were needy and not me. ***I'm finding this entire conversation very...suspicious and not buying it for one second*** Yes, he *could* have changed but I think that some things are better left in the past. I told him we could explore being friends but we would not go down the dating/romance route again. |

I'm sorry if what I'm about to say seems uncalled for, but when it comes to relationships you seem very... uh... jaded (that's the best word I can come up at the moment)
I wonder what's happened to you to make you so so suspicious all the time.

Sybil, dear, do you not read about my adventures with some of these tools? If I don't keep a sense of humor about it, I'd go bonkers.
I decided to humor myself and let him take me out to dinner. Sure enough, it was sex he was looking for. I told him he was barking up the wrong tree, at which point, he drove off and I didn't even get my leftover chinese food.

oh i'd be suspicious, too. it's always the ones that press on about 'change' that you gotta watch out for. soulmates...oof, he's brought out the big guns, huh?!
