For what he was worth, he was a man of conviction and a man of his word. posted by: DrForbush (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (5:35 pm) I agree with you. Put him in the ground first, then rip him apart. But, you have to admit that the speeches today were overtly political. posted by: JolieFille (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (6:04 pm) I don't see how the speeches today couldn't be political. He was the president afterall. I respected the man. That should be all that's required. Unfortunatly the media has to skew it to their liking. posted by: Greybeard (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (6:25 pm) Bravo! posted by: BLOU (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (6:39 pm) What satisfaction can one get from ripping apart a 93 year old man? Even if you didn't share his political views ... he was the President, a husband and a father! I agree Diva .. a little respect goes a long way. posted by: Magoo (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (6:49 pm) Some just can not let sleeping dogs lie....that is a saying I have always wondered about. People can be so mean and unfeeling. I agree with you.... posted by: SASHASMOMMA (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (6:49 pm) here here. well said. posted by: BLOU (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (7:01 pm) Ok, so who was the first President to lay in state? I'm sticking with my first answer .... posted by: misskendy (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (8:47 pm) I agree Scuba..in fact I just did a blog about him tonite. posted by: riverrat338 (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (8:55 pm) I also agree Diva. Those who tear this great man down just have an agenda. I even heard that one of the big fishwraps mentioned in his obituary that "the fall of communism happened on his watch" instead of giving him due credit. DFB and others similar in species would tell you it was just luck...that communism was dying anyhow, he didnt do anything about it. posted by: SheSpecies (reply) post date: 06.09.04 (9:05 pm) Damned skippy, Girl! That's some cowardly un-American, anti-human bullshit right there. posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (2:48 am) Abraham Lincoln ;) posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (3:00 am) Reply to: DrForbush Maybe I missed it - but I heard about his commitment to his wife, his family, his country. I heard about his childhood, his parents, his charisma. I heard about his respect for the office, his devotion to his convictions, and making America stronger. I heard about his influence in the fall of the Soviet Union (albeit called "the evil empire'), the Berlin Wall, and the release of the hostages. Call me silly, but the man was one of the most charismatic and respected presidents in recent history - wouldn't it have been odd if they hadn't mentioned some of the achievements most people recognized? posted by: Saint027 (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (4:20 am) While perusing blogs yesterday, I accidently stumbled on a psycho-liberal blog and stupidly left a comment. His response informed me that Reagan was not only a satan spawn, but donated WMD to Hussein and told Sadam to gas his own people. Thus, all the evils in the world are Reagan's fault. Kinda blew me away when I heard that, so I went and looked it up, and low and behold, he was! posted by: therealspartacus007 (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (5:40 am) I agree for the most part. But some (I just mean some, not trying to bash on the majority of respectful, appropiate commentators) of the people on TV and the radio the last couple days have been exaggerating his legacy and phrasing things to deliberatly bait Reagan opponents into getting sick of it all and dissing on him. posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (6:11 am) Like most of the so-called political bloggers on here... they are just spouting out what they see and read on other blogs...I haven't seen one of them yet who actually has views of their own. I just ignore them... ignorance is bliss!! posted by: Coldtones (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (7:12 am) GOP FOREVER!!!!! posted by: riverrat338 (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (8:22 am) Saint: Yes, Winston is way out there....wacko indeed in my opinion. LOL posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (8:30 am) Reply to: therealspartacus007 I wish one station would have just shut their traps and let us enjoy the music, the sounds of the moment without their commentary. (I do not give a FUCK that Barbara Walters had lunch with the Reagans, blah blah blah...) posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (8:32 am) Reply to: Cyberpal Ignorance is bliss? Um, sure, if you're an ostrich. Political apathy is why our country is run primarily by power-hungry, self-absorbed, greedy egoists. Everyone is too busy to pay attention at all. posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (8:34 am) Reply to: Coldtones It's NOT about the GOP. Or the Dems. It's about a tribute to a man. A man who, whether people supported his vision or not, sacrificed a lot for the good of our country. This should be a non-partisan tribute. (But, I still agree with Mrs. Reagan's choice to not have Clinton or Carter speak - and it's not because of partisan reasons) posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (8:48 am) Reply to: ScubaDiva Well put Scubs, but I was actually refering to the politicos... not as a general saying! posted by: Coldtones (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (9:42 am) Reply to: ScubaDiva I loved being lashed at, oh man ... what a turn on posted by: EarthSpirit (reply) post date: 06.10.04 (4:18 pm) I agree!
