I've been doing marketing consulting for local companies for years. I was referred into a client last fall. Did an initial marketing plan. Got paid for that. Then they chose to continue my services for a flat fee each month. After the first month, I submitted an invoice.

Suddenly, he wasn't available. Didn't respond to the invoice, emails or calls.
Or maybe one in five touches and he'd make excuses about cash flow.
I said that he could at least agree to some repayment plan.

Again, silence.

So I sent a certified letter on Monday as a last warning that I was taking his butt to court.

Fast forward to yesterday.
I was invited to a shin-dig where lots of entrepreneurs and investors were canoodling. Talking to some people I knew. Out of the corner of my eye - I see that guy that owes me more than 2k.
He sees me, makes a very quick exit.

I told the people I was standing with about it. They laughed. About half an hour later, he interrupts us, tells me he got my 'letter' and 'would take care of it'.

I told him that I'd believe it when the check cleared.
I've been more than patient and that sort of dodging and inconsideration is inexcusable.
