I went through the same thing with my kitten(s), get them some toys to occupy their time while you're out of the house. posted by: auntconi (reply) post date: 04.21.08 (4:10 pm) This reminds me of a cat I adopted. She chewed on my lamp cords. One time one evening I was reading the paper with the lamp turned on, she was behind me on the floor and every few seconds I would hear 'mew' ... and then a few minutes later, 'mew' ... and then again in a few minutes another 'mew' ...?!?!?!??? So I got up to see what was wrong. She was nibbling on the cord and getting a little 'poke' ~ hubby said she'll stop soon enough, leave her alone. Well I chased her away and gave her one of her toys ... and about half hour later she was in another corner, she was chewing on another cord. I ended up taking her back to the shelter as the rule is; if it doesn't work out, return the pet to us! She ended up with burn marks on her mouth from doing that and apparently she 'liked it' ~ poor thing. A few years later when I moved out of that house I found many other cords that had been chewed on. My cat had lots of chew toys and was not home alone a whole lot ~ I guess she was 'wired wrong' ~ oops, sorry, bad joke! But true story...! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 04.22.08 (8:18 am) Reply to: squirrelzone My cats have more toys than your local pet store. And I rotate them. They are vindictive little furry f*ckers. posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 04.22.08 (8:20 am) Reply to: auntconi Now I'm totally freaking out about all electrical cords - I had bunnies when I was in college and they chewed through crap all the time. Thankful it wasn't my laptop power cord instead! The new antenna cord is rigged so it is out of reach. posted by: squirrelzone (reply) post date: 04.22.08 (8:33 am) Reply to: scubadiva Perhaps they have separation anxiety or they just may be evil. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 04.22.08 (3:37 pm) Maybe your cats could have smelled your frustration? |
