Tanked
11.08.07 (12:47 pm)   [edit]

Yesterday, I went back to the fish tank for the first time in two months for the annual volunteer appreciation event. I had forgotten all about it and sent out a broadcast email to some friends to see who wanted to go along. I only went for the raffle - because they give away some really cool (and crappy) stuff.

Four or five people replied back that they wanted to go but I ended up taking...

(you're not going to believe this)

balloon animal guy.

I know.

But he'd never been to fish tank before.

Evening was incredibly uneventful. I still feel really drained. On the upside, I was wearing my new really cute brown suede boots with 4 inch heels. Lots of compliments. There was still zero interest in balloon animal guy. I didn't even really enjoy showing him around too much. He wasn't very interactive - kept making Star Trek references - which I didn't get - at all.

Not to mention, everyone at the fish tank was like "where have you been?" (I stopped volunteering in mid-September because I wasn't getting credit for time volunteered - when I brought it up, the head of volunteers was pretty pissy with me.)

The head of volunteer's boss came up to me and asked what he had to do to get me back into the volunteering loop because I was the most interactive and passionate and knowledgeable volunteer he'd had. (Told him of course I was since he trained me.)

I guess I might go back some. There's a lot of stuff I need to do before next month but I don't think I will ever feel as passionate about the place as I used to.

Not to mention, I didn't win crap at the raffle. Some people won two and three different gifts. (Incredibly suspicious considering who won what...)

Back to balloon animal guy... He went in for the combination hug/kiss but I turned my face so it'd be a cheek kiss. It wasn't extremely awkward but it was a little bit. He's genuinely a nice guy - really - he's just not the guy for me.

And wearing the really cute boots with the 4 inch heels for all the walking around I did - let's just say that I'm in flats today.

Wow ~ as for me I'd not have chosen "four-inch-heels" to wear to a "walk-around" function ~ but then again, if they really made me look "WOW" ~ might have to think about that ... naaa!

Have a good day ~ in flats at that!!! :D

To bad you didn't win anything.

The boots felt comfortable earlier in the day - had a work thing beforehand. I didn't really even think about them hurting later. (And we had to walk a long way to the fish tank because there was crazy traffic due to a concert or something.) On the upside, no blisters!

No pain, no gain for fashion!
