| Had an early meeting this morning at Starbucks. Had about 90 minutes to kill before my next meeting, so I opted to hang out and do some work and people-watching there. Sitting in a comfy chair in the corner. Working on some emails, when a young guy sits down next to me and starts chatting away. Nowadays with the blue-tooth headsets, you never know if someone is really talking to you or not. I realize he is actually talking to me. He's complimenting me on my shoes, which, I admit are fierce. So I make some chit-chat. Asking him what he does - he says he's in real-estate. I ask if he does commercial or residential. He says both and then pauses for a second and says he's taking the test for his real estate license this weekend. I chuckle to myself. (At least he's honest.) Chat chat some more. Tell him to give me a call when he's official so I can hook him up with some mortgage folks. He gets up, we shake hands and I go back to work. Apparently, so did he. Fifteen minutes later, I look up and recognize him standing behind the counter in the green Starbucks apron. He's the barista. I shoulda asked him for a free refill... |
