Chipmunk #3
05.26.07 (2:42 pm)   [edit]
If you're a regular reader recently, you've heard about my cats catching/killing two chipmunks in the past week... I've had no more 'incidents' this week because I kept them inside (they were grounded). Lovely day outside, did a lot of productive stuff this morning so decided to hang out in my hammock for a while and enjoy a book. I'm coated in sunscreen, perfectly balanced in the hammock, enjoying some tunes from my mp3 player... I hear a noise... I look up to find Lulu with a chipmunk in her mouth, bringing it to me! I yell at her to put it down. She does. And it goes scurrying INTO my house. Shit. I had no idea I actually had at least three chipmunks. Alvin & Simon are deceased. And now Theodore has moved in. I have utterly no idea where the hell Theodore is in my house. Anyone speak chipmunk?

I believe the proper thing to do is give the house over to the felines and rodents and spend the summer on the deck.

If they want to pay my mortgage, keep the house clean and keep up with repairs, I'll consider it.

That's what I have to do to live under the roof. Why should it be any different for them?

Just leave the cats in the house, don't worry they'll find him/her--no guarantee on it being alive though. heh

I laugh, but I've had several live squirrels, birds and rabbits in my house :)

Lulu will catch it, don't worry.

I love all critters - except mosquitoes, roaches, flies, rats and possums. And I have an affection for my chipmunks - they are so cute and entertaining to watch...

I need to have an intervention with my cats... Is there a feline version of the "Dog Whisperer"?

That's what I'm afraid of... :(

Couldn't tell ya. Luckily 'Earl the Killer Cat' has stopped trying to impress us with his catches and kills. Maybe he just figured it was no longer necessary, lol. You're probably much nicer to your cats, lol.

I don't understand why, after 8 years in this house that suddenly she's gone into such a fierce hunting mode... It started two weeks ago with the lizard she brought me. I thought Sassy was doing the chipmunk killing, but it must have been Lulu all along... (And I punished Sassy last weekend by putting her in 'time out' in the powder room with just water and the litter box for several hours. I feel like a bad mom!)
