Somehow, the way you describe your Mom, I keep seeing Rhoda's Mom on the old Mary Tyler Moore show from.. oh shit, probably before you were born. I think it was Nancy Walker... posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 10.05.06 (6:53 pm) Reply to: surrogate I'm miserable when I have the flu. But I still get the shot every year! And yes, Mary Tyler Moore was before my time. Did they even have tv when you were a kid? posted by: surrogate (reply) post date: 10.05.06 (7:25 pm) Reply to: scubadiva We had a prototype model... took up the whole room and had a two inch black and white screen. I actually do remember when the my friend Doug's family got the first color TV on the block. We'd go over to watch the Wonderful World of Walt Disney on Sunday evenings. It was one of the only shows SHOWN in color back then. Must have been around '62 or '63. (Ya know, when I was still under thirty.) If I remember, all the coverage of Kennedy's funeral was in black and white in late '63, but maybe I just remember watching it at home. We didn't get a color TV till around '66 cuz before that my Dad thought it was a fad that wouldn't catch on. Honest. posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 10.06.06 (4:28 am) Reply to: surrogate LOL. I was kidding. Geesh, you ARE old! (mwahaha) |
