Barney Fife and Me
09.21.05 (4:19 pm)   [edit]
I talked to the detective that is handling the complaint against "T". If I say he's the urban version of "Barney Fife", would you understand? He does appear to be a little more sympathetic than the jackass I initially met with. He asked me what I wanted to do (I decided that suggesting he be strung by his balls for the birds to peck at would be overdoing it a bit).

The detective said that "T's" phone number is disconnected and there is no forwarding number. (I haven't tried calling it, so I have no idea. However, I have given the detective his home address, vehicle description and tag number. Told him "T" is usually home most evenings after 7ish. I also mentioned that his house is for sale and suggested that perhaps the listing agent just might have contact information for him. (Subtle, eh?)

I advised the detective that I was concerned about retaliation from "T" and that I'd like to be notified when contact has been made with him so I can be on alert. He assured me he would. (Do I believe it? Nope.)

I'll say a prayer that this guy will help you...

I've been away for awhile so I'm not sure if you've already thought of this...or done it, but why not go ahead and get an order of protection from this guy now? If you have, great. If not it might make him think twice before contacting you.

Hope this finally brings you some peace :)

I asked the detective when I filed the complaint and I asked again yesterday - both times I was told I cannot get an Order of Protection until threats have been made. But thank you for the suggestion.

I wish I could say I was hopeful but...

Hmmm that sort of surprises me. What about a restraining order, wonder if the same applies? And Jesus hasn't he done enough already? *rolls eyes* the hands of justice, sheesh.

Couldn't you just post his address, vehicle description, and tag number somewhere on the internet....maybe here or somewhere? I am sure someone would gladly make him unable to retaliate for anything for a while. Just a suggestion. Oh, and I am definetly not going to be in Atlanta in two weeks, if something should happen then.

Some places call it a restraining order, some call it a protection order...

I'm quite familiar with my county's requirements for restraining orders - as I had a stalker for several years. Since May, he has made no attempt to contact me - so, theoretically, there is no need. When the cop contacts him, that's when I'm afraid the poop will hit the fan.

Newbie, I have had a number of offers from people I know and complete strangers that have volunteered to teach him a lesson.

I don't believe two wrongs make a right. And as much as part of me would love for him to feel the degradation and shame that I have felt, I believe in Karma. It will come back to him. And if I 'helped' Karma along, I think I'd be in line to get a dose of it myself.

Plus, I'd be worried that the 'volunteers' might be hurt or they may get too carried away. I don't want them or myself to be linked to any sort of retribution. Ya know?

Once the medical stuff is resolved, I will be seriously considering taking civil action against him. I think that would hurt him a lot more than an ass-whooping.

And, posting it on the internet, opens me up to potential claims of defamation by him. (He is sue-happy).

As you can see, I've thought of it a lot. Him getting a dose of his own medicine doesn't heal me any more. It won't ease my struggle. It won't undo my stroke, my trust issues and the other stuff I'm going through.

Make sense?
