Diva vs. Pepe the Roach: Final Vengenance
08.06.05 (5:51 am)   [edit]
Thursday night, one of my beloved felines brought me a present of a large cockroach from outside. It was lovely to see how proud she was of her 'gift', unfortunately, the little critter was still very much alive. I tried to kill it, but it scurried off under the sofa. *Note: at least this time the feline did not jump into my lap and drop the live bug on me!

So I spent the next hour moving furniture around and scouting to kill Pepe (the roach). I was not going to sleep until he was D-E-A-D.

Of course, I had already taken my sleeping pill cocktail, so my reflexes were a little slow and I was feeling a little 'not of this world'. I sat down for a moment on the sofa to regroup and figure out what the hell to do.

Then I look to my right and the little fucker is sitting RIGHT THERE on the armrest, taunting me. (It's hard to smoosh anything with thick book on a cushioned sofa arm.) Pepe scurried under the sofa cushion. Armed with bug spray (that I didn't want to spray on the sofa), and the vacuum, I flipped the cushion off and sucked Pepe up.

Then I thought, 'Oh crap, he might crawl out!' So I vacuumed the downstairs for a while, including the sofa, etc (since I had moved all of the furniture around anyway). Then I sprayed some roach spray up the nozzle, hoping the vapors would kill the little critter and he wasn't up in the vacuum bag making more roach babies to avenge his death.

So I finished the evening off with putting the vacuum in the garage and wrapping the end of the vacuum nozzle with a bag (and duct tape) to make sure he didn't get out.

how nice of your kitty to bring you such a lovely present :)
pepe good name lol I would have taken the vacuum bag out and burned it that should kill the vermin. But then again Don't they say that roaches will survive a nuclear holocaust.

I was just going to point out that holocaust thing myself. I think all you did was piss him off. He probably sucked up that bug spray like it was a blast of fresh air. You're in real trouble now.

I was in the Air Force stationed in Charleston, S.C. and that was my first encounter with roaches (for some reason, we don't have any up here in Ohio). Anyway, they would come crawling up out of the drain for the sink. We had a propane torch by the sink just for the purpose of dealing with them. We roasted more than I can count, and there was no doubt that they were dead when we were done with them.

It was a brand-new vacuum bag. I wasn't going to waste it just because of the roach. He's been sitting in the garage and there's no evidence of him trying to escape. (And I was kinda afraid he'd jump out and strangle me if I took the bag off...)

I know my kitties love me, but I prefer it when they bring me their stuffed toys as presents. I always reward them for those. I make a point of screaming when it's something live... (Maybe they enjoy that too?)

Consdering my current state of mind, I don't want to bore readers with my ongoing whining and whimpering about how miserable I am. So, I try...

Propane torch? Um, anyone that knows me would say that's a baaaaaad idea. I can't even operate those automatic grill lighters.

I'll have to retell the story of the history of me and roaches.

Yes. And I named my hummingbird, my chipmunk and miscellaneous regular birds. Do you have a problem with that?

when I was young and lived in NYC, my "apt" had roaches that were ROACHES. They ate Raid for a treat!! And could walk through the roach motel like it was nothing!!
