I knew it!!!
07.20.05 (8:59 pm)   [edit]
Last week, at the doctor appt, I asked her if there was any chance I was getting some sort of off-brand or substitute version of Ambien, because since I've been getting it filled thru the current system, I can take 3 of the pills and they do NOTHING. (Whereas before 1 would knock me out cold).

The doctor said there was not a generic version of Ambien out, so that they couldn't be giving me an alternative.

I asked the pharmacy when I picked it up today - if there was a chance I was getting something other than the Ambien which was written on the actual perscription because it wasn't working on me at all.

She said that in fact, I was not receiving Ambien, but a substitute afterall.

I knew it. Called my doctor back to ask what the hell I have to do to get Ambien. Pissed that I've been paying for utterly worthless pills for months while they were telling me I was imagining things.

Aw geez that sucks. But is the generic as expensive as the real stuff? If so I'd be mad as hell and might even think about trying to get a refund.

what is the chemical name (even the drug name on the bottle)?? They can't be dispensing something called Ambien when it's not. It might be good to start lawyering up if that the case.

Strange that you haven't been getting what is prescribed to you. I know here if you are getting the generic name of a brand name the pharmacists should be telling you.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but you have GOT to be the poster child for "Murphy's law".

This is a sudden revelation to you? I actually have the Murhpy's Law poster from Spencer Gifts in my closet as a reminder...

Actually, they've done it before. The doctor wrote a perscription for Zyrtec and they didn't say a word and filled it with Claritan (which dries my eyes out). I had to go back and raise hell with the doctor to get them to go off formulary.

Gotta remember, I'm dealing with the public health system...

There is no 'generic' for Ambien as of yet. They just substituted it for some other generic sedative.

You think dealing with insurance is hard? Try public health...

It's the local health system I'm involved with. It's ridiculous.

I'm sorry, does the system provide you with a list of the formulary? The doctors can clearly write on your behalf if they can or will take the time,

When you get the actual ambien- will you send me your generics?? LOL!
seriously though...

seagrass is correct, it can't be called Ambien if there is no generic available. And ask you doctor if he can check on the formulary to see if what you need is covered. or, again, go the sample route if your doctor will give you some.

Are you still able to see your reflection in the mirror? (I'd like that option right now) Do you know how hard it is to floss w/o looking in the mirror? (Why, I have no idea)
