Flowers SUCK!
06.06.04 (1:35 pm)   [edit]
The mother invaded a little while ago. She was 'concerned' since I cancelled on seeing her Thursday (because I was so upset that I got lost driving again but didn't want to tell her).

The irony today? She brings me a dozen roses. They are beautiful - ivory with peach edges. Problem is - Roses give me a wicked headache - always have - and she knows this. Regardless, I thank her for them profusely and off she runs.

So, now I'm depressed. It's pretty pathetic when the only flowers you've gotten in ages is from your mom or a get-well arrangement from your mentor. I don't like guys to make a fuss over me. Then again, I never date anyone long enough to warrant flowers for a special occasion. I can count the times I've gotten flowers from a guy on two fingers. (And one was just a rose - no wait, I bought him the rose! So make that I can count the flowers I've received from a guy on one finger - and that was because I caught him in a MAJOR manipulative lie and he was trying to make good...And, heaven forbid - I have never received flowers from a guy 'just because'.

I'm thinking of embracing my state of being and changing to "SpinsterDiva" instead...

Amazing how a Mom can set your spin to all that there...Hmmm. I wonder if they realise that all their "love" does that to us. I wonder sometimes if Mothers are completely out of touch with how their Mom's made them feel...

I have to laugh a little about the clean thing. My Mom does that same thing to me when she comes over for a visit. I'm surprised she doesn't come with a white glove. ;-)

I have 'contractor grade' laminate floors (cheap and the finish is wearing off). They always look dirty b/c they are such a pale color. Despite sweeping, swiffering, mopping - she still raises her eybrow. Drives me f'ing nuts already - I hate the way the floor looks, I don't have to have her remind me...

I was very nice about the flowers. I am taking it as a gesture of concern and trying not to focus on the allergy thing. It would only end up in another 'martyr' scene.

I'm stopping the mothering cycle. I ain't spawing...

Or... I could leave a trail of rose petals from the sprinkler to my bed...

I'd prolly end up with my creepy neighbor showing up and shaving my nether regions for nothing.

LOL Not a breeder, eh, Scuba?

You'd be sneezin yer bum off in my house right now, yo. I trimmed off some flowers in my yard. My rose bushes are full of blooms and there's some in about every room of my house now.

Laminate floors are such a fucking headache. When I bought this house there were some upstairs in the kitchens/bathrooms, as well as downstairs. I got some dudes to facelift it off and put in some tile...it was so hard to peel off.

That's a blast from the past! I was always torn between the Judd Nelson character *named Alex (which was the name of the guy I was dating at the time) and the Rob Lowe one. And, as a bonus, the name of the character Ally Sheedy played is very similar to my own.

That's for the trivia buffs!

Roses are kinda stinky. I've never been a huge fan of them in large numbers. I hate bouquets in general. I mean, they die!? I'd be more touched by a house plant or something along those lines.

My husband buys me alcohol. LMAO
