posted by: DiddySecret (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (5:12 pm) I consider that an insult...cuz I'm not a bitch! posted by: SASHASMOMMA (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (6:00 pm) My work world is male-dominated. My husband owns a fence business. I deal with Contractors/builders/vendors....all day long. They just dont get it UNLESS I am in bitch-mode. Its the only thing they understand. If I am nice and "go-with-the-flow" I would never get my jobs installed in time because my material wouldnt be in. Unless I am very aggresive, assertive and demanding....I do not get what I need. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Queen B and proud of it! oh....did I answer the question??? I dont give a hoot if I am called a bitch. I dont take it personal....screw them if they cant take it.....ok, I'm done!! posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (6:11 pm) Reply to: DiddySecret I consider it a compliment - means I don't take crap from anyone, that I'm aggressive. If I was a man, it wouldn't be a big deal at all. ;) posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (6:13 pm) Reply to: SASHASMOMMA As I said to Diddy, I consider it a compliment. If we behaved that way as men, it would be considered nothing extraordinary. What are we supposed to do - cry and flirt to get things done? Please! posted by: JenaRathbun (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (7:29 pm) I think it is both...an insult when my husband calls me a Bitch and a compliment when my girlfriends call me one. It stinks that anytime a woman is strong in her convictions or she is a tough cookie, people always call her a bitch. Like women are supposed to be a wilty flower or something... posted by: JennsAbsent (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (7:56 pm) Like Jena said, I consider it a compliment AND an insult. Just depends on who's calling me a bitch. *Hugs* (I hope you're feeling better!) posted by: bleiben (reply) post date: 05.25.04 (10:28 pm) compliment. because it is true. if someone calls me a c***, THAT IS DIFFERENT. posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.26.04 (5:23 am) Reply to: bleiben "if someone calls me a c***, THAT IS DIFFERENT." The only time that word is acceptable is if they are facing it. (Did I just say that?!?) posted by: J (reply) post date: 05.26.04 (5:32 am) neither one....its just a word used to describe the way i'm acting, or the way some people always are! lol.. posted by: dumblondegirl (reply) post date: 05.26.04 (6:28 am) Hmm... quoting Maya Angelou and Courtney Love in the same breath? Lmao :) I consider it an insult because the only person who calls me that is my husband when he's made (i.e. You're being a bitch today). posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.26.04 (6:39 am) Reply to: dumblondegirl I would merely say thank you for the compliment to him. ;) posted by: Brayton (reply) post date: 05.26.04 (8:36 am) Its a fine line, isnt ladies? cause men will have respect for another man if he is assertive, but, not if he is aggresive, generally, if a man is aggressive when dealing with others, (and Im speaking from merely a buisness perspective.) Its a sure sign they are lacking in some way, or feel that they are, basically seen as a weakness, and they are considered jackasses. Assertiveness good, aggressiveness bad. My wife just happens to work in a very male dominated field, and it took her quite a few years to establish herself and gain the respect of not only her boss, but the men she had to deal with. Now, this is in Indiana, mind you, and now, she is very well known all over the area, and has the absolute respect of nearly everyone she deals with, all this, and she has commented that she had to be a bitch very few times. My point you ask? Maybe there is a way to be assertive first, bitch second. I realize that we males are rather boneheaded, but I noticed that none of you have commented that you had to be bitches to other ladies, only men. hmmmm........ Let the pounding begin! posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 05.27.04 (6:24 am) I wouldn't know, I get called a bastard more times than a bitch!! *rolls eyes* :-P posted by: lynne (reply) post date: 05.27.04 (10:54 am) It totally depends on the context. If someone calls me a bitch because I am standing up for myself, then I consider it a compliment even though they probably didnt mean it that way. If someone calls me a bitch because I have been unkind to them, then I consider it an insult. posted by: Daisymae (reply) post date: 05.27.04 (12:11 pm) It just depends on the context. If someone is saying it playfully then no big deal..but if their being harsh I might just have to show them how big a bitch I can be!! lol posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.27.04 (1:57 pm) Reply to: Cyberpal Personally, I prefer to call you Rat Bastard. LOL posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 05.28.04 (2:26 am) Reply to: ScubaDiva And I'd rather call you Diva-Bitch!! :-P posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 05.28.04 (4:47 am) Reply to: Cyberpal Works for me. ;) posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 05.28.04 (5:32 am) Reply to: ScubaDiva Diva-bitch it is then..... :-P posted by: ragdoll16 (reply) post date: 05.31.04 (7:04 pm) There are times in a woman's life when being bitch is better than being a girl. posted by: ScubaDiva (reply) post date: 06.01.04 (4:59 am) Reply to: ragdoll16 Why can't we be both? :) |
